King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s 84th Birthday

Posted by admin

Last December 5 was His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s 84th Birthday celebration.  Although Thailand’s longest reigning King did not encourage festivity on his birthday because the people should be mourning for those who lost their lives and displaced from their homes during the flood, the Thai people still deemed it necessary to celebrate their beloved King’s birthday with the usual fireworks at the King’s Park, Suan Luang.

People started to camp around the lake as early as 2 pm.

A stunning view of the King’s Museum at night…

People gathered around the lake holding candles sang songs to the King.

The fireworks were something the people looked forward to seeing, and we were not disappointed.  It was just magical watching it.

Tourists had fun lighting up those lanterns and released them in the sky. It was one festive Friday!  As a foreigner of this country, I can only pray for the King’s long life and good health.  I am one with the Thais in their love for their King, who they lovingly refer to as “The father of the Thailand”.
